Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in India

we have old property in name of my mother, builder had taken money for this property and given the possesion letter. but this builder had taken a loan from bank which he didnt paid back. now the case was against the resident of the property and bank.now bank is asking us (society) to pay the loan amount which builder had taken. what are our option to deal with this
