Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ghana
A young man from a poor family has received medical treatment in a clinic. The family was not able to pay for the medical bill and the clinic detained the young man for weeks, adding to the bill every day although he no longer needed any treatment. He was just held hostage (and is still being held) and the charges for a bed added to the bill every day. He was not free to leave. Isn't this illegal detention? What can be done against this?

Dear Sir / Madam,
You may contact a local charitable organisation and request them to initially pay and settle the hospital bill. The young man can then do some social work for the charitable organisation when he is fit and repay them in kind.
Regards,
