Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

can a bounced cheque be represented again after 7 mths ? i have give n a cheque to a party and was bounced back due to non sufficient funds after making an understanding with the party i gave him cheque from another account which was cleared and i had the receipt of it but the original bounced cheques were not returned and given the excuse as misplaced for which i didnt follow up also nor did we take anything in writing after 7-8 mths they presented the bounced cheque again and filed a case against me what can i do now?
