Legal Question in Criminal Law in

I was caught shoplifting and taken to the questura in a town Italy.The Item was a shirt costing 17euros.Finger prints and mug shot taken.As to see a Lawyer,I am jobless.Told will be called to court sometime next year,it is a first offence.?Am a legal immigrant.Question,What will happen next,can I be breathing freely,am under immence stress and its killing me?
