Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pakistan

Dear Sir,

the husband of a woman has verbally (conversation recorded) conveyed that he was telephone by "someone" that in his absence someone "man" enetered his house, where his wife was present. When asked to give the telephone or name of that person who called for investigation by police, he startetd to make lame excuses. In addition, he accused his wife and his mother in law of doing kala jadoo on his mother, who died as a result. This telephone conversation is also recorded. Can he be charged under defamation law, and is this proof enough? What if more than four months have passed since he made these defamation allegations?
