Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

Does the supredent of police has the right to order reinvestigation or further investigation on a private case filed in sessions court while it is under the consideration of the court?? Does the sp need to take any permission from the court before such order??

The police may file an application u/s 173 (8) of Cr. P. C. before the court for further investigation.
