Legal Question in Family Law in India

Hi,
After 4 months of wedding, me & my wife got separated because of some dispute (not related to dowry or domestic violence). This happened 2 and half years ago. We tried to reach out to her and her family but they neither agreed to stay nor were ready to give divorce. Finally, after two years I. E. This may, they were ready to give divorce but only after we give them certain amount of money. We gave them the money they demanded. We have written proof mentioning that we have decided to separate. After taking money they wanted me to sign an affidavit which stated objectionable statements which we denied. Hence, they denied divorce in return.
Post this incident we sent a legal notice as to what you want. They sent very harsh notice in response by stating that we had asked for dowry and we tortured her. She wants to live with me. I, in return, gave her 15 days to come to me. But they didn't accept notice even after two attempts.

I filed petition for divorce on the basis of cruelty. But they haven't appeared in court yet. On the contrary, they filed criminal complain in court against my entire family (dowry and domestic violence).
We don't have any child. I know this usually happens in all divorce cases. I just want an advice, is there any way where I can ask for justice or can do anything so as to expedite the process.
Please help.
