Legal Question in Family Law in India

As advised by my lawyer, i have filed the divorce petition against my husband 4 months ago on the basis of cruelty, mental and physical harassment. Its almost one year i separated from my husband.Prior to filing the case, i was told by my lawyer that i can claim all my money instead of articles which only belongs to me. And my case is going though mediation now. So on the first mediation, i demanded my husband for whatever i spent, not the alumni, as i was informed that working women cannot claim it. But now the lawyers tells me that he(my husband) may or may not give the money(for my article). He has got the choice of denying, whatever i asked for. And i will be granted divorce by court, by some ex-party. Is this law, what my lawyer said is correct? If so, then what should i do to claim my money. Can i withdraw the petition instead? All i want is divorce along with all my money. It was my hard earned money. I cannot let it go because after marriage, he has saved almost 80% of his salary and i spent all my salary. Another thing is, i am in no hurry to take divorce but my husband is. And whatever i followed so far in this case, i guided by my lawyer. what would you suggest on this. Please guide me through this.

I have also heard about Stridhan. If i can withdraw the petition then, can i file for Stridhan instead. Can i claim the household expenses made by me under stridhan if i have proper expenses receipts for the same?

well you can always seek a second opinion to ascertain if the advice given is correct and the case is progressing the way it is. In return of the dowry articles the money is given if the article are not there otherwise the articles are exchanged.money spent on household cannot be a stridhan .the fate of the petition will depend on the pleadings and subsequent orders filed.for further query contact 9312411481.
