There's no age limit for minor's custody with his/her mother according to law, but there's only one principle i.e. Welfare of Minor, if mother proves that welfare lies with her then she can have custody of minors till the age of 21 years.

The reply given by my learned brother Salman Khan Advocate is actually referring to general presumption as per practice.
