Legal Question in Family Law in Barbados
Divorce
Should one file for divorce in the country of marriage or in the country (state) of residence? An answer to a previous question confirmed that filing was possible in my state of residence (California), but would it be more advantageous to file in the country (Barbados) we were married in?

Re: Divorce
You can get married anyplace. You can get a divorce only in the country (and state) in which you reside or in which your spouse resides. If your spouse resides in Barbados, you can chose either country. If you both reside in California, you are stuck with California. Good Luck, Pat McCrary

Re: Divorce
State of residence has jurisdiction over your divorce.
