Legal Question in Family Law in India

i took divorce with mutual consent but lost custody of my 10 n 8 yr s old son. my ex having bipolar and her elder sister is schizophrenic. doctor statement is there. but due to fake dowry case we settled divorce but now my ex not allowing me to meet my kids it has been 5 yr now.lawyer is asking me to file case in utter pradesh as kids are now in utter pradesh. i stay in Maharashtra.

The e ex people are not safe. there is chances of physical assault. i s there any way where i can file case in Maharashtra for my kids custody and visiting rights as divorce was done in Maharashtra.
