Hi, my friend is an adopted daughter having attained majority, her adopted parents are rich & does not take care of her, hence she does not live with her adopted parents but with her biological parents, the adopted parents are rich but she lives in a poor state, can she ask for a maintenance till she gets marriage?

After adoption, the adopted parents are as good as biological parents. An unmarried daughter may claim support from her adopted parents u/s 125 of Criminal Procedure code, if by reason of any physical or mental abnormality or injury she is unable to maintain itself.

Was the adoption registered? She can not only seek maintenance but also compensation for abandoning an adoptive child.
