Legal Question in Family Law in India

a friend of mine gave birth to 2nd girl child. she and her husband want his sister-in-law to adopt this girl child. sister-in-law is already having a boy but can't give birth to any other child. the in-laws of my friend dont want this to happen.is it legal to do that? what are the possible ways to stop this thing to happen?

what about the sisterinlaw is she agreeable too?? If both the parties are willing then the adoption can take place.
