Legal Question in Family Law in India

Hello,

I got married in 2009 and post that my wife had left my house quite a few times over petty issues. Every time me and family got her back and tried to make things better. She still kept doing it and finally on 16th December 2011 she left and then did not wish to come back. We were out of touch for more than 6 months and then tried talking after that. All the efforts went in vain and did not find any change in her attitude. Met her 3-4 times in a shopping mall and did not find that she was ready to give in more than 100 % to work out on this relation. She also keeps saying that she left the house in anger and feels bad about it. All this while her parents did not even bother to ask anything about it, being girl's parents, Now it is almost 2.5 years and we had a family meeting where her dad says they are not willing to give a mutual divorce as for them 2.5 years of staying apart is not a big deal. She says if I say she is ready to give a divorce and also come back if given a chance. On the other side her dad says that you can stay together for a week and if you both are not comfortable go in for a divorce. I asked them being a father where were you for 2.5 years when your girl walked out of my house: she was immature, bla bla bla. Now me and my family really need peace of mind and just get over this. They are ridiculous people and already started talking ill about us. Please help.

You have already talked to your wife. Now, if you feel that this marriage will not work out, better to get separated. What her father says is irrelevant. Serve a legal notice for Mutual consent divorce u/s 13B. If she agrees to sign it, its ok. Otherwise, file a contested divorce. Contact fo detail.
