Legal Question in Family Law in India

Hi,

I am married for two years now and have a boy of 8 months from it. After marriage, to keep my wife's valuables, I opened a bank locker in my name with ability to jointly operation (either me or my wife). We got into some problems and my wife is now staying at her parents and has taken the locker key with her. When I knew of the key being taken by her, I immediately froze the locker operation as it was in my name. The last operation on the locker was by both of us 2 months before we got into family problems and if I remember right, I had signed on the operation register. Now, my father-in-law is threatening that he will file a criminal case that I have custody of her valuables or state that some of the valuables are missing as she has personal custody of few of the valuables with her that was given at the time of marriage. Since my Wife had the key, I had done this for my safety to avoid operation without my knowledge and accuse me of missing jewels. Please let me know if I can challenge in case such a move is made by my father-in-law.

Expecting an earliest response. Thanks in advance for your help.

Since your marriage is too young and it also involves life of an infant, you are advised to swallow your ego and make all out efforts for reproachment with your wife and in-laws. The fact that locker can be operated jointly may help you. However, no amount of legal help can possibly restore your happiness for which you need to build bridges with your family. Make sincere efforts, and if required, do not hesitate involving your friends and relatives. Your ego might prove to be your enemy in the given situation. Be careful.
