Legal Question in Family Law in India

Me and my husband got married secretly in 2013 as my parents were not ready. He and his family always denied to socialize the marriage and kept delaying. Till today no-one is aware that we are married. After few months of marriage when i started forcing more on taking a step to either convince my family or socialize, he started treating me badly. I decided to separate and later he also agreed(atleast on phone). Since then he is saying he will sign divorce papers when he comes back to India. We are staying apart for almost a year. I don't know how to proceed with mutual divorce as he is working in another country and have not given me a definite time when he will be back and for how long. I don't want to contest a divorce but i also want the process to start asap so that i can also start a life.

Please suggest some solution.
