Legal Question in Family Law in

Iam a bcom graduate and I was married to a guy from other state 4yrs ago.My in laws agreed for a court marriage but at the moment of action they denied it.I was married to him with all rituals and customs.But within 3 months,my in-laws and husband mentally tortured me n sent me back to my paternal home.He came to my home 2 years later n stayed with me for months saying that he would settle in my city.I was blessed with a girl child,who is 1 and a half years old now.Immediately after my child was born,he went away to his home in the other state.Now he is demanding me a divorce n denying to pay amount for his daughter's future.He is forcing me and my family to divorce him as soon as possible without the money included otherwise he would take away his daughter forcefully.We consulted a lawyer n he said that my husband could never take custody of the girl child which i guess is not true.Please advise me what to do.

You may need to seek a proper custody order from the Guardianship Court of your area and meantime pray for an interim injunction. Normally, custody of a minor child below 5 if granted to mother.
