Legal Question in Family Law in India

I m divorced mother having total custody of daughter of 9 years.she is having the surname of biological father.Now i made a gazzate for middle name in my name and surname in my maidan name and school had accepted for change as soon as possible.Is this over procedure for name change

as per new ruling, you need court orders for name change.
