Legal Question in Family Law in India

Is it mandatory to be present in the ex parte hearing of my husband or my lawyer can represent me in the court of law,is their a provision in indian law where in my lawyer can represent me if i cannot attend.what happens after ex parte hearing starts and the other party lawyer also keeps his point.
