Legal Question in Family Law in India
I wish to marry my first cousin and both the families are against the marriage. We are both adults and have mutually accepted for the marriage. We belong from tamil brahmin community where marriage between cross cousins is a practice although parallel cousin marriage is void. Both the relation fall under the category of first cousins. Kindly suggest a way so that we can be legally united.

The law is that you can't marry within the prohibited degree of relationship except if the custom or tradition admits it. Since you are saying that parallel marriage is void, you can't marry. Then the only option is conversion.
