Legal Question in Family Law in South Africa

I have met a girl that has a child, but the father has abandoned the child. Now that we are in love he wants her back and wants to see the child but she don't want him to see the child. How can I protect her and the child against him?

There are many factors to consider. How long has the father not seen the child for? How old is the child? Is it a boy or a girl? Has the father been paying maintenance? Where would he visit the child? Does he now have other children? Is he married? The interests of the child are paramount. If it is in the child's interests not to see the father a Court will not allow him access but you must remember that the input if both parents are important for the child's development
