Pensions, divorce and remarriage

If married under the law of New York (Nassau) and upon divorce have been paying a third of a pension to the ex-spouse - what happens if the this ex-spouse remarries? Do you still need to pay the one third pension to them as there is nothing mentioned in the divorce settlement?

Re: Pensions, divorce and remarriage

While I am not licensed to practice in the State of NY, the final Decree of Divorce may generally be viewed as a contract or a judgment. If your Decree does not speak to termination of payment, then you must comply; you should check w/local counsel about statutory provisions. ..might be worth a trip back to court.
