Legal Question in Family Law in Nigeria
Pls what are my chances of havn full custody of my son as his father hardly cares for us,finds it difficult to pay for his school fees and take care of his feeding.He has also never treated me well and gvs me emotional and psychological pains.Pls I have decided to leave him but am scared that he wnt let me go with my son.My son is just 2plus old and he's all ve got.Pls advise me.

When you say you want to leave, do you mean a divorce or a separation?
If it's divorce, you can ask the court to grant you custody of the child. In the meantime, the child remains with you.
If it is separation, you can leave with the child, but you may need to report the issue with the welfare office of the state or local government you reside in, if he refuses to allow you leave with the child.
Whatever the case may be, the courts and the welfare offices always grant custody of an infant to the mother unless there is a compelling reason not to do so.
