Legal Question in Family Law in

I'm remarrying with one child age 15. My question is if I die or the marriage ends is he responsible financially as a step parent for that childs support until she is 19?

What legal rights and responsiblities does he have when we marry to that child and how do I protect myself and her to make sure this marriage covers her support in the event something happens to me. Thanks Tracy

If a step-parent relationship is established, then your new spouse should support your 15 year old. Simply marrying may not be enough; your new spouse should contribute to the support and maintenance of your child for at least a year. The obligation could continue past age 19 under certain cirumstances. To answer further and to go into the rest of the questions is beyond the scpe of LawGuru; please consult a lawyer for more.
