Legal Question in Family Law in India

hello sir/madam, one of my friend is in a strange problem. he got engaged to a girl and both families had a written agreement of marriage conformity. now he dont want to marry that girl. if he breaks the agreement what is the consequence and how can he break this agreement with minimum risk. he is working in a private organisation.

Pls help me.
