In British Columbia, if a child under 19 is involved (or a child over 19, but unable to withdraw from parental care - usually due to attendance at college/university, or a physical or mental disability)child support is mandatory. You can't have a divorce without satisfying the Court that proper child support arrangements are in place. Child support is based on the non-custodial parent's gross (NOT net) income and is set by the Federal Child Support Guidelines. If the father has custody and the wife does not, then there is a process to force her to provide financial information and to force her to pay. Please see a lawyer.
