Legal Question in Civil Litigation in India

My mom gave 10K ruppees to her freind in there needy time around 3 yr ago, she promised to return within few months but then she started to make my mom wait more and more and now she also started to abuse and her son warned my mom that he would return and harm(Kill) us after paying and no one could do anything to him. We took local police help and now they(my mom's frnd) are told that they will pay. But we are worried about his warning. What should we do and how to ensure that they will not harm us in future?

we have already gave a complaint about the rupees, but her (mom's frnd) husband keeping the fake promises but yet not give any rupees, & also we are woried about our family safety.

May be he would return the rupees, but we can not trust on them about our protection, what shoud we do?
