Legal Question in Civil Litigation in

Rent of Execution

I did work for a customer that did not pay the final bill. I Sued him, he counter sued. The Attorney I had, had me sign a power of Attorney to handle the case. He quit being an Attorney to do another field after I had paid him $1000.00 to defend me. He never gave notice that he quite.

The customer that counter sued me, (I sued him for $12,000) which he owed me, he sued me for $42,000 plue attorney fees which came to $52,000, His total job was only $24,000 from me so where his $42,000 came from I don't know.

I received a letter today stating he has a rent of execution and I lost the case. This is the first bit of info I had since my Attorney quit. I never received any notice we were going to court or when court was to be. I have lost a case I was not aware of was taking place. What can I do. Can I appeal the rent of execution. If they give him judgement and I had 90 days to appeal, I never received any info that we went to court or that I had lost a case until today?

Re: Rent of Execution

It sounds as if you're already in deep. Assuming that this means that there was a judgment against you, you really need a lawyer to help you with this. The rules for an appeal are very tricky. Your time may have already run on that. There's really no simple advice for you; you need to find a lawyer to help you with this at this point.
