Legal Question in Health Care Law in India
Sir, a relative of mine has been admitted to hospital in critical care unit . She is a septuagenarian retired school teacher and has been suffering from bilateral pneumonia. The financial condition of her family is very critical and hence I am apprehensive about the circumstances which they have to face for not paying the hospital bills. My question is, if they are unable to pay the hospital bills at the time of discharge, what can the hospital legally do to make them pay the bills ? They have already paid twenty thousand rupees at the time of admission, but after 4 days the hospital said that the total amount due is seventy thousand rupees, and they also said that all the outstanding bills must be paid at the time of discharge.....

Request them to give you some time to pay the bill. At the most, they can file a recovery suit in the court. But, they have to discharge her.
