Legal Question in Immigration Law in United States
I am thinking of doing an affidavit of support for my brother who is applying for his permanent residency, he came here on a fiance visa, recently got married and had a child. If he decides to get government assistance/ aid for his child or U. S citizen step children how will that affect me? What about if he applied for student loans?

As a joint sponsor, you are only secondarily responsible for any means tested benefits that the immigrant applies for. ( The petitioner is primarily responsible ).
You would not be responsible for student loans or any means tested benefits for anyone other than the immigrant.
