Legal Question in Employment Law in India
Dear Sir,
I had received a notice from THE BUILDING AND OTHER CONSTRUCTION WORKERS WELFARE CESS ACT 1996,
they are requesting to submit the details of our residence building plan, land tax copy etc to District Labour Office.
they told we have to pay a cess of 1 % of the total cost of the building because our house built after 1995.
My question is it compulsory to pay the cess for all?
Kindly request you a valuable advice regarding this matter

Dear Sir / Madam,
Cess is a State matter. So if it is applicable in your State, I suggest you check up the rules and regulations for applicability of Cess with the local Municipal Office.
