Legal Question in Employment Law in India

I am a dentist,joined a private medical college on Oct 1st 2015(9 months).I have asked HR dept regarding maternity benefits as I am due on 25 July 2016.they are not responding to a written query in this regard.I spoke to principal and he said I might lose my job if I take any legal step.kindly advice what can I do to avail paid maternity leave as well as save my job

Dear Madam / Sir,

You should politely request the Principal and the College Trustees to grant you medical leave as per the prevailing policy of the institution.

1) It depends upon as per ur Institution policy and ur T&C of appointment.
