Legal Question in Employment Law in India

My employer has only given me a probationary offer letter on which no clause is mentioned. I work for a school and they asked us to give in written whether i am willing to continue for the next academic year. I wrote yes on a white sheet of paper. However, now i plan to leave after finishing my duties at the end of this academic year and not come back for the next academic year. Now the employer is not accepting my resignation and threatening me with legal consequences. What should i do

1 Answer from Attorneys

1) When u signed till the end of next academic year, u r bound by it else to undergo legal consequences as threatened by the employer.

2) If there is any clause of resignation of Notice or payment in lieu of Notice then u may invoke such clause.

3) Better try to convince the current employer explaining frankly ur difficulties or career progression or salary increase which he may agree and the offer if any u hv on hand with more pay or otherwise better, u may bargain with the current employer.
