Legal Question in Employment Law in India

I have resigned on 19th september 2013 but i have promoted on 9th september 2013 also with increased salary which will effect from September salary. but when i received the salary for september 2013 i only received the previous salary not the increased salary. The management say that " your promotion are cancelled because you resigned only after 10 after getting promoted". I dont know is it right or wrong or specific act is there. please advice
