Can an unfavourable Performance appraisal be challenged in Private Companies in India & how to take legal recourse to it?

Dear Sir / Madam,
Yes, if all the performance evaluation parameters have been violated by the HR Department of the Company. You can address your concern to the Audit Committee copied to the MD of the Company to be addressed in their forthcoming HR meeting.
