Legal Question in Employment Law in India
My wife is a medical doctor. It is normal to get treatment from a doctor readily available for small illness. Once I was ill and got treatment from her. I had to take leave on that day. Now once I applied for medical leave with a medical certificate issued by my wife, my office did not accept the medical certificate citing the reason that my wife could not give me medical certificate. I am a govt. servant. Is there any rule of GOI to this effect?

Generally, the certificate should be of a registered government doctor. Certificate of private doctors are also acceptable, but its not natural that the department may not trust if issued by your wife. Suspicion is bound to arise.
