Legal Question in Employment Law in India
I am working as an Assistant professor in a private medical college in Pondicherry from March 18 2015. I worked till the last date of delivery I.e. December 18 2015.. Now my concerned hospital superiors are refusing to pay me the money saying I am eligible for maternity pay only if I completed one year in that hospital prior to the delivery. What can I do regarding the pay?

Dear Madam,
Please inform the Principal of the College that the Human Resources Department (HRD) Ministry has revised the entitlement of paid maternity leave from 12 weeks to 26 weeks to each and every employee in the Government and private sector. Tell the Principal that a person may go the family way anytime, so there cannot be such a rule that an employee has to complete a year's minimum service to be entitled for maternity leave.
