Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in India

Hi,

I have recently entered into a Rented house. And later after few days I noticed, there is a misprint of digits which I eventually corrected with pen and whitener and asked the owner to sign the change. The correction was a clear case of subtraction mistake and not a forgery. But he straight away refused to sign, rather wants to make a new agreement with new clauses as he considers the current agreement is no more acceptable anywhere. Whereas, I talked to local police and lawers, and just came to know there is nothing like invalidity with this contract and it will be simply OK if he signs the correction made rather than creating a mess. I think his intention is not the correction but putting new rules. Please suggest what do I do now. Can he make any such aggreement in presence of the other? Can the current agreement be considered as invalid one if a correction is just done and the owner refuses to sign? Please show me a way out.

Dear Sir / Madam,

Yes, the Owner has the right to invalidate the existing Agreement, and enter into a new Agreement afresh with you. Yes, the current agreement can be considered invalid for a correction made without the explicit approval and consent of the other party. You will need to abide by what the Owner decides to do.

Regards,
