Why is a land owner asked to pay a huge amount to a long time tenant without agreement before eviction as compensation? It is often said that filing a eviction suit takes long time, is it so?

Dear Sir / Madam,
When the tenant has been in occupation of the land / property for a good number of years, the Court rulings generally state that he is deprived of his home on eviction, hence the Owner is made to pay a compensation on vacation.
