Is it necessary to register the leave and license agreement signed in every pages by landlord and tenant and prepared by advocate

Dear Sir / Madam,
Registration of a Leave & License Agreement less than a year is optional. If the tenure exceeds a year, registration is mandatory. Payment of prevailing Stamp Duty thereon is also mandatory.
