Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in India
I have been staying on rent in a flat in Kolkata for a year and a half now. My lease expires in October 2014. I am however vacating the flat in early June and served notice to my landlord two months ago. The landlord holds a security deposit of two months rent and is not returning the deposit money and the broker through whom i found the flat is not being helpful either. I would like your advice on what my options are regarding dealing with this situation.

Dear Sir / Madam,
You should ask the Owner the reason for not returning back your Security Deposit and whether the Owner has deducted some amount therefrom. If there is no justification for the deductions, you should ask the Owner to return the Security Deposit, failing which you can lodge an FIR against the Owner in the local Police Station.
Regards,
