Legal Question in Legal Ethics in India

A complainant withdraws her complain after a period of 2 years on will and in front of the judge, which came as an unexpected event for us as well as our lawyer. Our lawyer was planning to extract a big fat amount from us. But now that he finds the case to be automatically nearing end, he has demanded the amount despite of not having done anything. We are a lower middle class family and he is well aware of this fact. But he is deaf and blind to it. And he says if we fail to cater to his need he shall reopen the case and harass us. I am interested to know can our lawyer do it really? The PP from the other side is nowhere in the scene.

Dear Sir / Madam,

It is totally unethical and unprofessional of the lawyer to hold you to ransom. You may consider lodging a complaint against his unruly behaviour with the Bar Council of India for action. NO, your lawyer has no right or means to reopen the case without your explicit consent and approval.

Regards,
