Legal Question in Real Estate Law in India

I have given notice of 30 days to my landlord as per the agreement. On January 15 to vacate premises by February 15. He is asking for full month rent for February. Is he justified. The agreement DOESN'T say that the notice will be effevtive from 1st of the month.

If the tenancy commences from 1st, notice should be given on 1st ideally. Otherwise, if u vacate in between, the landlord would be correct in asking for full month payment.
