Legal Question in Real Estate Law in India

I purchased a plot in a prime locality in 2003 through a mediator and got it registered on my name. Later I came to know that the plot was part of a 3 acre land owned by a joint family of 3 brothers and their kith and kin. All of them were illiterates and they had oral agreement among themselves to sell one acre each.

Accordingly, the sale was made by only one family and 13 members of the family executed. The mediator is learnt to owe some money to all the 3 families and hence the family members who have not executed the sale are disputing the sale.

Also, it is learnt that the 3 acre was made into a different lay out prior to our purchase and the plot purchased by me was sold to someone else. It amounts to a double registration. We are unable to get the legal certificates on the ownership.

Kindly advise on how to get the plot legalized on my name?

It's look like you have purchased the undivided share in the property. Its legal one,you can enter you name in ROR by INDEX2.and become the co-owner of the property, but cannot take the separate your land and take the possession.
