Legal Question in Real Estate Law in
Real Property in a common law wife situation
I have a mortgage with my ex-boyfiend. We split up on the 9th August'99 after a nine year relationship. How do I go about sorting things out with the house as I am entitled to half the equity in the property. I have also got furniture in the property which is soley mine which he is refusing me to have (I have endorsed letters as proof that the furniture belongs to me). I am unable to get into the property as he has changed the locks and the alarm code.
I can't aford to get a solicitor to fight my case as he has left me in so much debt, as he forced me to the bank on the 10th August 1999 to sort out the financil side of things. I had to get a loan out for the debts which I dispute. He told me on the 10th August 1999 that he would buy me out of the property so the equity from the property would pay off the debt I took out which has never happend and I am now struggling financially. He refused to let me seek legal advice and I was a fool to trust him. Please can you help... Desperate....

It doesn't matter your present financial situation it will only get worse if you do not get counsel. GO GET A GOOD DIVORCE ATTORNEY. Ask around for a very good divorce attorny, not a general practitioner. Not to be sexist or anything a tough female divorce attorney is what I would suggest (I am a male).
