Legal Question in Real Estate Law in India
we have a shop in Ahmedabad. Shop is registered in the name of my grandfather as owner and Mr. X as occupier (on rent) in Municipal Records. Actually we have misplaced the copy of agreement of rent as well as documents regarding ownership .We have been paying municipal tax at higher rate due to let out of property as appearing the records which is not the case now. And now we want to register the property in municipal records as 'Self occupied" and My grandfather has passed away. And there is no any will and neither possible to get the deed executed in our name due to several factors. can any one suggest the way out to register the property in municipal records as "self occupied".

you will need to get the succession certificate of the property. get the duplicate certified copies of the property from the municipal record and then apply for the transfer of the property in your name.
