Mahar Watan is a type of Inam granted to people giving services to community.

The Watans were abolished in 1955 or so and lands were regranted to occupants on payment of occupancy price to the Government. These lands were originally regranted on New Tenure or Bhogwatdar 2 and upon payment of entire occupancy price, necessary orders were made to change the tenure to Old Tenure or Bhogwatdar 1.

Bhogwatdar is Tenure or Class of Occupancy of land. Bhogwatdar 1 means that occupancy is heritable and transferable without any restriction. Bhogwatdar 2 means that occupancy is heritable, but not transferable.
