To make a will, do I need to go to a lawyer, or can I just write my wishes down and get the paper signed appropriately?

Dear Sir / Madam,

You are right. You can yourself simply write in your own handwriting your wishes on how and to whom you wish the title of all your property will vest upon on a plain piece of paper and ensure that you sign it in the presence of two witnesses with their full names, address and contact number as evidence of you having affirmed the Will in their presence. You will have to name the custodian of the Will and handover the sealed Will to the custodian.

Regards,
