Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Trinidad and Tobago

Hi, my mum died in February with no will. She had a common law partner for 10 years, whom she has a child with that is under 18. I have made steps to become the administrator since the partner hasn't. How can I get him to give me permission to continue 9r cooperate? How can I get him to contribute to lawyer fees since I'm still in school? What are steps that are to be followed for this process? Thank you

A co-habitational spouse (common law spouse) is not entitled to apply for the estate of a deceased spouse unless an order of the court is obtained by him. Permission is not necessary from your stepfather. The children (over 18yrs) are entitled to apply for the letters of Administration.
