I was told my name is on my grand father's Will but I was not allowed to be present when his will was read is this legal

Here is what you need to do.

The executor has to probate the will. You can write and request a copy of the will. The law provides the mechanism for a beneficiary to have the executor produce the will if any, If he fails he cannot use the will to probate. If the will is being probated then

Obtain a copy of your grandfather's death certificate. You need his correct name as it appears on the death certificate and the date of death.

Approach the Probate Section (Hall of Justice, POS) and request the file and a copy of its entire contents which will include a copy of the will
